I started to paint in Ibiza in 1987. At first that corresponded to a child’s dream and was only a hobby parallel to a career in international finance.

From the beginning I follow the trend of informalism by working out my paintings directly on the floor with a lyrical vehemence. Very quickly, I integrated material into my pictorial language (blending of different textures, marble powder, iron powder, sand …). The expressive power of matter had a crucial impact on my creative process. Paradoxically, what I wished to suggest with matter was the immaterial.

Painting then became more and more meaningful in my life and led me beyond the scope of aesthetical considerations. This thought included psychoanalysis, mainly the collective unconscious and symbols, as well as the occurrence of alphabets. I focused on the Phoenician one, which appeared 3 000 years ago as the first modern alphabet, and the various developments which came after among nomadic people of the Middle Eastern deserts. By inscribing into matter these ancient signs, with their aesthetical aspect and their symbolic dimension, I sought to express the elation of forgotten metaphysics.

From then on, creation became essential and I have been dedicated to it since 1998. I later combined photography and silkscreen printing with painting to investigate further the tension between, on the one hand, the sensual represented by matter and the different textures used, and, on the other hand, the impalpable suggested by evanescent traces whose deep meanings remain impenetrable.

Philosophy enabled me to clarify my approach: between immanence and transcendence, in an intermediary field I called "metaxical", where prevails the seduction of enigma.

Since 2010, I have lived and worked in Berlin which, thanks to its creative effervescence, has become for avant-garde artists the trendiest cultural city in Europe.
